News Release from Bury College

Ex Bury College student Emilie Fanara (age 23 from Bury) returned to the College to give second year BTEC National Diploma Interactive media students a masterclass in professional photography.

Emilie studied A Level Photography, Fine Art and Psychology at Bury College, before continuing her education at the University of Central Lancashire where she studied BA Hons in Photography.  Since graduating Emilie worked freelance before setting up a partnership business in Radcliffe trading as Dotmoxee Photographers.  The company specialises in advertising, fashion and portraiture.

Emilie’s workshop benefited from cross college collaboration between the Art department and the Hair and Beauty department, who provided Emily Simpson from VRQ Level 2 Hairdressing to fashion model Monica Majsterek for the demonstration.

Emilie Fanara said, "I've thoroughly enjoyed working with the students.  They were all really engaged in the Fashion Photography lesson, learning about lighting, posing the model and post production of the images. It has been such a rewarding experience and I hope they've all benefited from the workshops."

John Pritchard, Assistant Curriculum Manager for Visual Arts said, “This has been an excellent opportunity for our students to work with an industry professional with so much experience in her field.  The advice and guidance that Emilie has given to the students will prove invaluable as they put their first foot on the career ladder.  Bury College hugely appreciates the time and energy that Emilie has given us, despite her hectic and packed schedule.”

John added, “This has been a fantastic cross College experience, working with the Hair and Beauty department has been terrific, the trade off has been great for both parties, Emily Simpson the student who styled the model’s hair and makeup was amazing, her skill level far surpassed any expectations either the model or photographer had.”
