Bury College Business Solutions offers First Aid qualifications at a range of levels, providing learners with the practical skills and confidence required to deal with first aid emergencies.

First Aid at Work Qualification – HSE

Why not include First Aid in your business planning for the year ahead? On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to administer emergency first aid to a casualty with the following injuries:

  • Bones
  • Muscles and joints
  • Chest injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Eye injuries
  • Sudden poisoning and anaphylactic shock


Candidates should also recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid e.g. perform the recovery position. This qualification will also enable students to perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation CPR as necessary.

Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification – College Certificate

This one day course is aimed at individuals who want to develop their skills in basic first aid.

Successful completion will help candidates to understand the role of the first aider, assess emergency situations and administer appropriate first aid. Topics include:

  • Choking
  • CRP and bleeding
  • Recovery position
  • Shock and burns


Paediatric First Aid Qualification – FAI

This course is designed to equip candidates with the relevant knowledge needed to look after and care for babies and young children. Once achieved, this certificate is valid three years.

Topics include:

  • Special needs of infants and children
  • Behavioural characteristics
  • Guidelines on seeking medical aid
  • Preventing disease transition during and after an emergency
  • Primary assessment
  • PR
  • Bleeding/wounds
  • Choking and burns
