With only weeks to go Bury Council is urging residents to make sure they are on the voters’ roll in time for the local elections on Thursday 3 May.
The deadline to register to vote is 17 April and the deadline to apply for a postal vote is Wednesday 18 April. The council is advising anyone who has not already registered or applied to vote by post to do so as soon as possible.
The quickest and easiest way to register is to go online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. All you need is your date of birth and National Insurance number and it takes just five minutes.
If anyone is considering standing as a candidate in the local elections, the deadline for nominations is 4pm on Friday 6 April.
