Ever heard that phrase "like a kid in a sweet shop"?
Well I can tell you not only will your children be in awe but you will be to when you take a trip to Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe on the original part of the Rock in Bury. For those of you out there that are a little bit older you will be totally amazed at the HUGE range of sweets that you didn't think existed any longer........................ It's like a journey back in time to your youth!
All those old favourites such as cayli (sherbet), Pontefract cakes - yes really, sarsparilla tablets, Coltsfoot rock and a whole section of liquorice - half of which i've never heard of but are old fashioned favourites of many!
Then there are the chocolates! Well, here we have all of the traditional flavours (made by Mr Simms chocolatier) but also Tutti Frutti, banana, strawberry pearl, cherry and kirsch, blackcurrant, white chocolate, orange................................................the list goes on (is your mouth watering yet?)
As well as the delights I have already mentioned which of course are all perfect for Christmas gifts, you will find mints of all shapes, sizes and descriptions, a fabulous childrens range, candy canes and many other products that you haven't seen for years!
Mr Simms is a traditional sweet shop, the only one of it's kind in Bury and one that has a fabulous reputation for quality and standards. Many have tried to copy the unique presence that comes with such a business but there really is only one Mr Simms!
I'd encourage you to go and take a look at this wonderful little shop where you'll be met with a warm welcome and a smile.
