Older adults are being offered help to bring children’s books to life and improve their young family’s literacy skills.
A five-week course at Radcliffe Library aims to provide those aged 50-plus with inspirational ideas which could change ‘storytime’ forever.
Attendees will be shown how to make a ‘story bag’, receive a children’s story book, and make items to complement the story.
The course will cover a variety of skills - sewing and painting, computer work, reading together and reading to children – and will be matched to all levels of ability.
All course materials and books have been made available via funding from Ambition for Ageing. Books and all the resources made will be yours to take home to read with little ones.
The course starts at Radcliffe Library on Monday 4 June (from 10am to noon) and will run for a further four consecutive Mondays.
Places are limited, and must be booked. The cost for this five-week course is £20 per person. Call 0161 253 7160 or drop in to Radcliffe Library.
