Princess is ready for a new home - latest news from Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, Bury

After only three months of treatment Princess, once dubbed the Saddest Puppy in Britain by the media is fit and well and ready for a new home.

This has astounded both vets and the staff at Bleakholt who expected the recovery to take far longer and to possibly to never be complete. The staff at Bleakholt are familiar with the requirements of dogs with Demodectic Mange. Some previous cases that were treated at Bleakholt have needed ongoing treatment for life. It is looking very likely that Princess will not need further treatment after this initial period.

Thanks to the world-wide media interest in Princess she has a devoted international following of her Facebook page and a large sum of money has been raised as a consequence.

Princess will be interviewing applicants this weekend

As there is so much interest in Princess Bleakholt will be rehoming her in a manner different to their usual process of the dog going to the first good home that presents itself. This time Princess will be available for her friends to visit and potential new homes to enquire on both Saturday and Sunday this week.

On Monday a group of Bleakholt staff, manager, Head of Dogs and a Trustee (and Princess of course) will go through all the applications for Princess and select a short list for further enquiries to be made.

It is expected that Princess will be ready to leave Bleakholt by the Saturday following.

The crew from BBC Animal 24/7 will be at Bleakholt on Saturday to film Princess meeting potential new adopters.
