Road improvement works in Lowercroft

The work will affect the road from its junctions with Ainsworth Road and Gisburn Drive, and is due to start on Monday 12 June, lasting for seven weeks.

The work is being done to replace the worn-out road surface as part of the council’s ongoing highway refurbishment programme.

There are two elements to the scheme:

Work to improve local drainage, footways and the retaining wall between No. 99 and Lowercroft Mills will take place from Mondays to Fridays, at off-peak times between 9.30am and 3pm. Temporary signals will control traffic flow.

Resurfacing the carriageway will be carried out over four consecutive weekends, starting on 24 June. At those weekends Lowercroft Road will be closed to all through traffic, and signed diversions will be in place; however, we will endeavour to maintain access to residential and business properties, and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. NB: The resurfacing works are weather dependent and dates may change at short notice.

A council spokesman said: “Inevitably, when undertaking a scheme of this nature, some disruption is unavoidable; however we will endeavour to keep this to a minimum.”
