They did it!!
We're pleased to report that the team completed the Y3P and were elated to finish at around the 12 hour mark. They raised just over £1,800 for Bury Hospice which will go a long way to supporting this wonderful charity and is part of the Bury Hospice Corporate Challenge 2018.
On Saturday 1st September, Suzanne, Jenni, Paul and the team, alongside Activate are undertaking The Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge (Y3P) and they're doing it to raise much needed funds for Bury Hospice.
The "walk" covers a 24 mile circular taking in and ascending three mountains; Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, all reaching over 2,000 feet, and begins and ends at Horton-In-Ribblesdale. The event is led by ex military event leaders and so the team are in incredibly safe hands. It's most certainly something that will challenge them, but that's what it's supposed to do - they'll not only have the challenge of the climb and the distance, but the technical and navigational aspects too.
The brave begin their journey from the Pen-Y-Ghent Cafe at 6 a.m with the walk expected to last approximately 12 hours.
Can they do it? Of course they can!
The challenge is for an amazing cause, and is part of The Bury Hospice Corporate Challenge where businesses begin with just £50 and are challenged to turn this into as much money as possible. Alongside other local businesses, they'll fight it out to take part in, and organise a number of tasks, no matter how large or small, to raise what will hopefully be 1,000's of pounds. Whoever raises the most by the end of October becomes the overall winner.
Square Peg Associates are embarking on the challenge as part of The Made In Bury Brunch Club, a group of business ladies who meet twice per month to invest in and develop their business and connections through networking.
Other activities and events being hosted include a "Gin"gle Bell Ball, A ladies lunch, name the teddy bear, cake sales, clothing collections, Gauntlet Games and more.......
We wish Suzanne, Jenni and all the other very brave walkers the very best of luck and hope that the weather is kind to you on the day. Take plenty of energy bars ladies, you're going to need them - that and good boots! Oh, and take pictures, plenty of pictures so we can feel we were there with you!
Donations
If anyone would like to donate to the fundraiser and send with some positive thoughts for a healthy return (because we know how sore those feet are going to be!) then please do so via the link here.
"Please could you ensure that any donations include: Your name and Sq Peg 3 peaks challenge just so we can differentiate which Corporate Challenge Event has raised what money. "
Anyone fancy offering a foot massage?
Seriously, we hope it is a wonderful day. You'll smash it and the feeling of achievement after you've completed it will be like no other.
