This year’s Bury Lions Carnival Parade and Gala takes place on 12 June, and Team Bury partners are supporting it and working with Bury Lions Club in an effort to make it make it a bigger and better event. It links into the work we are undertaking to promote Bury as a tourist and shopping destination. There are some big surprises in store ....

Bury Lions Carnival already attracts over 5000 visitors to the town centre every year, and with the new events planned for this year we hope to attract more!!
Bury Lions are looking for people and groups to take part – this could be:

  • A performing band
  • A dance group A theatre group
  • A group which can build a float
  • A local community group which wants to showcase what it does
  • Or another aspect, group, or performance which allows us to promote what is good about the borough of Bury.

This year the Carnival will be celebrating people, items and businesses which are Made in Bury.

Made in Bury aims to celebrate the positive aspects of the borough – the place, the objects, businesses, historical figures, places, experiences, and people who have helped make the borough of Bury what it is today.

Made in Bury will bring together people from across all the different communities and cultures which make up the borough. People could be born, work, study, or live in the borough, but as part of their life experience, Bury has made a positive impact on them and helped make them who they are.

We hope to double the amount of Carnival entries and help raise more money for Bury Lions, who work to support worthy causes and charities in the local community.

  • Do you work with a local group as part of your work in Bury, which could take part?
  • Do you volunteer with a local youth group after work?
  • Do you know members of a sports team who could showcase what they do as part of the Carnival?
  • Do you know of a local business which could promote itself by taking part in this year’s event?

Entries are invited from groups and businesses from across the borough of Bury, and beyond, and each entry costs just £10 for non-commercial, and £20 for commercial.

All revenue goes to Bury Lions Club, for redistribution to worthy causes.

If you want to take part, please email communications@bury.gov.uk or burylionsclub@hotmail.co.uk, or telephone Bury Lions on 0845 833 9608 to request application forms and further information about the Carnival.
