The Fisherman's Retreat, based in Ramsbottom, has earned national recognition, with its collection of over 500 single malt whiskies impressing experts all over the UK. Named as "Whisky Pub of the Year 2010" in "The Good Pub Guide", known as the pub-goers bible to many.

For The Fisherman's Retreat, whisky collecting is a hobby that brings as much pleasure to the owners as it does for their customers. It became a regular occurence to buy a bottle of whisky every week, moving from supplier to supplier to create a unique collection. The search went on for a large whisky merchant whose list if whiskies was not as easily exhausted, leading the Fisherman's Retreat to get in touch with Gordon and MacPhail through a life long friend now affectionately known as "Uncle Ken".

Through visits to distilleries in Scotland taken over the years, the Magnall family have become extremely knowledgeable on the subject of whisky. Fancy trying some for yourself? The Fisherman's Retreat hold regular whisky tasting nights throughout the winter, which include a taste tour through six different whiskies, a supper of haggis, neeps and tatties, all heralded by a bagpipe player.

Whisky from the Fisherman's Retreat is available by the bottle or dram, carefully selected for the ultimate enjoyment. You'll find both Hervey Snr and Uncle Ken on hand to help you choose the right whisky from their huge range.
