The Made in Bury Business Academy: Empowering Bury’s Start-Ups for Success
Starting a business can be both thrilling and challenging, and for many entrepreneurs in Bury, the Made in Bury Business Academy has been an essential support system. Launched in 2016, the Academy has provided crucial coaching, mentoring, and a support network to 164 start-up businesses, helping them navigate the early years with confidence. The success rate for businesses that have participated in the programme is much higher than the national average for start-ups, highlighting the Academy’s impact on the local business community.
The Made in Bury Business Academy runs a comprehensive 10-month programme designed to help new entrepreneurs build solid foundations for growth. Participants meet twice a month in classroom-style sessions at BusinessLodge, where they benefit from expert guidance delivered by successful business owners and industry leaders.
The programme covers key aspects of running a business, from strategic planning to operational management. Beyond the practical learning, the Academy also fosters a supportive community of like-minded entrepreneurs. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with other start-up owners, share experiences, and collaborate on overcoming common challenges. This network is invaluable for providing ongoing support and accountability.
In addition, Academy participants gain exposure by having their business featured on the Made in Bury website. The programme also offers a membership certificate and accreditation, helping to build credibility for your brand.
If you’re a new business owner in Bury, it’s never too late to benefit from the Academy’s support. While this year’s cohort is already underway, you can still get in touch to learn more about joining the Business Academy in 2025. Simply reach out to Debi at debi@madeinbury.co.uk to discuss how you can get involved.
