THE ROCK CLOCKS UP TWO MILLION VISITOR FOOTFALL!

Over two million visitors have now stopped to shop at The Rock in Bury since it launched to the public in July. The exciting shopping and entertainment destination has clocked up a record number of shoppers in just over ten weeks of business, which is testament to the growing success of this leading North West retail hot-spot.

Flagship retailers leading the fashion-scene at The Rock include anchor stores Debenhams and Marks and Spencer, alongside Next, River Island, Oasis, Primark, JD Sports, newly opened menswear store Duffer and independent stores SoleFood and women’s boutique Marabella  - plus many more.

Since the impressive launch day celebrations, The Rock has also staged a Fashion Spectacular event that included the popular search for The Rock’s own Style Icons. Hot on the heels of announcing the winners, The Rock has now launched a new Street Stars competition in the run-up to Christmas to help find a winning ‘street performer’ to bring some sparkle to the Christmas lights switch-on.

David Laycock, Centre Director for The Rock commented on the impressive visitor numbers: “We have now topped the two million visitor mark which is fantastic news for all the retailers and for Bury’s reputation as a town really making a mark on the retail map. In the lead-up to launch, I stated the vision for The Rock as being akin to taking a little bit of Manhattan and putting it into a Lancashire town and I believe we are starting to do that. By staging innovative and creative events that inspire and excite shoppers to come to The Rock and to stay on into the evening to either dine or to relax, we are helping to establish a cosmopolitan day and evening economy for the town. “

Hayden Tucker, store manager for TopShop and TopMan at The Rock, Bury echoed the same positive comments: “Since opening at The Rock, we have witnessed TopShop sales figures go up by 150 per cent on the previous year and TopMan is even greater, up 250 per cent on last year.  This is down to increasing our store size by three times than the previous store in Bury, its location and The Rock attracting customers from a wider region.”

More exciting events coming soon at The Rock include a large scale community singing event in St John’s Gardens at The Rock, in partnership with The Met theatre, Bury. Individuals are invited to rehearse a specially commissioned acapella version of Elbow’s award winning hit, ‘One Day Like This’, to then sing live alongside local choirs and singing groups on 23rd October.
