Walmersley Golf Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Lowe as Club Manager. Steven’s appointment will now provide the Golf Club with a full-time presence in the office from Mondays to Fridays. The Club Managers role is largely a Commercial one dealing with Club Business and working alongside the Club Council he will be looking to continue to find ways of ensuring that the members are getting excellent value for money for their membership fee, and he will seek ways to increase revenue whilst keeping a firm hand on expenditures.

Speaking on his appointment Steven said,

“Thanks, must go to the members who have made me feel welcomed since my appointment.

It is comforting to know that we have a good team of staff with Sam running the Bar/ Kitchen, and David, Steve, Chris and Max on the green staff. In addition we also have Karl and Peter who are on hand in the Pro Shop and are again important to the Club as most of the time they are our first point of contact for visitors to the Club.

As most will know I have been a member for some time, 17years in fact! Having been involved with Council and the Handicaps has given me a head start on how the Club operates and means that I share a common interest in wanting the Club to prosper.”

Prior to taking up his role Steven was working within the insolvency industry on Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVA’s) which is a form of personal insolvency and working on some Corporate Insolvency cases.

The change of career comes following him deciding that it was time to pursue his passion of working within the Golf Industry and as such took to making this happen, he has already completed a Course in Golf Club Management and is a member of the Golf Club Managers Association, the GCMA. In addition to this Steen has also signed up for further study commencing in October to gain further qualifications.
