Our very own Wendy Wray from Delicious has bagged a hidden treasure in the form of a £600 diamond ring! The ring was a prize for the Win A Rock competition in the Mill Gate Centre, where visitors were encouraged to guess how long an ice sculpture containing the gem would take to melt.
Wendy's guess was closest to the time of 61 hours and 25 minutes and now she is proudly showing off her well deserved prize. Over 1,153 shoppers entered the competition and the beautiful piece was kindly donated by Burns Jewellers.
Wendy said " I just love it and working with my hands all day I can't help but admire it. The ring catches the light as I fill the butties and dish out homemade cakes for my customers".
The Mill Gate's Centre Manager, Colin Nichol said " I never thought I would be putting a diamond ring on any other woman's finger than my lovely wife, but Wendy was up for laugh and her boyfriend Jason didn't seem to mind. The sculpture was a beautiful if temporary addition to the mall and we are delighted that a Bury woman won the big prize!"
