Zoe Robinson, a Freeman of Bury, has won a bronze medal at the London 2012 Paralympics in the sport of boccia.
Zoe is a member of the four-strong team which defeated Portugal 7-5 today (Tuesday 4 Sep) in the play-off for the bronze medals. It follows her success in the Beijing Games four years ago in which she won a gold.
Councillor Mike Connolly, leader of Bury Council, said: “I never cease to be amazed at the determination and commitment that the paralympic athletes have shown.
“It's a great result for Zoe, and I'm sure everyone in Bury is rightfully proud of her. I was honoured to be at the ceremony to award her the Freedom of Bury three years ago, and I’m delighted for her and her family.”
