I booked the Friday feeling offer to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I emailed the hotel 3 times prior to arrival and still not had a reply. I wanted to ask if they did any special upgrades for anniversaries. We checked in quickly and went to our room. We had an upgraded room which we paid extra for but the Bose speaker system they advertise isn't really much use if you have an IPhone 5 or above as it didn't fit! The room could have done with being a bit cleaner but we didn't complain as we only needed it for 1 night. The 3 course meal which was included in the package was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. What we didn't like was the location of our room. It was on the 1st floor above the entrance of the hotel. They had a soul night party so when people were smoking and leaving they were stood right under our window. We even heard arguing and fighting that was very loud and kept us awake until 2am. We complained to reception in the morning and said we'd had an awful nights sleep so wanted to check out early so we could go home for some sleep. Not sure whether we would use this hotel again but if we did we would certainly be asking for a quieter room

I stayed at the hotel on the recommendation of a colleague as it was an ideal place to meet him for breakfast.
I must point out that I booked late (only 24 hours before checking in) so didn't expect the best price. I was offered a twin room at £109 and opted for breakfast at an additional £10. So for £120 I was expecting a reasonable stay. My room had two spongy single beds and it really could have been cleaned better (plenty of dust in the corners and the bathroom could do with new silicon as it was dirty).
I used the gym and left my room key as security. The gym is good with plenty of equipment however when I went to reclaim my key they had lost it along with the paper sleeve with the room number written on it! I sprinted back to my room and thankfully nothing was missing so they recoded the keys.
The breakfast was the most annoying detail. I had prepaid 10 pounds and met my colleague who had walked in off the street and only paid £5! I know this sounds petty but it is quite galling. When I checked out I asked the desk about the discrepancy and they said there was nothing they could do and the £5 was a 'special seasonal ' offer .
According to my friend he has only ever paid £5 and the special offer has been running for at least the last two years!

In summary, could be cleaner. Gym is good. Don't pay for breakfast.

Horizon Developments recently project managed a full house renovation for us. The work included a full re-model of our ground floor and a full first floor refurb including the addition of a new en-suite in the middle of the house. The professionalism of Scott and Mark was second to none and they made what could have been an incredibly difficult process run extremely smoothly from start to finish. The building work they conducted was of the highest finish and the other tradesmen they employed on our behalf were of an equally high standard.

One of the most impressive things we could comment on was the cleanliness of the work that was done. Every evening the house was left in an immaculate state, no matter what demolition had taken place that day. Some people even said the house was cleaner whilst the work was going on than when we lived there (the cheek!). Scott and Mark was also very considerate of our neighbours and somehow managed to organise up to 8 contractors in the house yet all we had was compliments on the politeness that was shown.

To summarise, we now have the house of our dreams which happened on time and within budget, what more can anyone ask of a builder. I would recommend Horizon Developments to anyone who asked me (and even if they didn't!). They really are the best of bury.

I had to relocate to the Village as my own nearby home had become uninhabitable following Storm Emma damage.I'd probably have taken anywhere but the hotel didn't raise their prices although they could have charged stranded travellers anything they wanted.Cheerful, friendly staff.Large, warm comfortable room and bed.Overall fairly clean although dirty bathroom grouting as well as area around bath plugs, taps and drain let it down. These areas can only be seen when lying in the (lovely deep)bath so it's obviously easy for cleaners to forget. The window was cracked in both the rooms I stayed in for two nights and both let in a strong draught although closing the blinds stopped it.As there were 90 mph gales during my stay,it probably isn't normally a problem. One small point is the lighting. No overhead but several lamps. In both my rooms the bedside lights were adjustable with screw type attachments Two in each room, four altogether during my stay and none of them usable .The screw had worked loose meaning the lights only faced downwards.Fortunately I was so tired I didn't need to use them for reading and managed with the standard lamp but lighting overall could perhaps be checked out.As I said, these are minor niggles and i had a great stay. Will definitely be back.

We have stayed at this hotel on around five occasions over the years and, to be honest, I don't know why we keep coming back. I complained about the cleanliness of the room in August 2009 and received a letter from the management saying it was an "isolated housekeeping problem" and that they were very sorry and it would be rectified. We stayed here again last weekend and decided to upgrade to a superior room as a) a treat and b) to see if these rooms were any cleaner than the rest. On arrival we were disgusted to find HUGE toenail clippings still on the carpet, dirty towels in the bathroom and hair on the bathroom floor. The carpet was really grubby and dusty in the corners and at the edges. As far as I could see, all my extra cash went to pay for two bottles of water.....we complained to reception who sent up a very nice housekeeping lady who rectified the toenail clipping and dirty towel problems but that was it. We went down to the restaurant for something to eat and waited approximately 40 minutes for our meal (2 steaks-not exactly haute cuisine which required lots of prep time...).
When we checked out we mentioned the cleanliness problem to the manager. She said the cleaning services had been contracted out and they were trying to get rid of the company so noted our concerns but offered nothing in the way of compensation. She said she would deal with our complaint and get back to us but I'm still waiting to hear from her. I intend to write to the head office (again) and see what they can come up with by way of explanation and any kind of incentive for us to stay there again and compensate us for our disappointment at Village Hotels failing to come up to basic hygiene standards again. I await their response with interest.

Visited this hotel on Friday 23rd June. On arrival the front of desk girls were very welcoming and told us everything we needed to know. The room was lovely and spacious only couple of niggles were bad lighting in room when I was doing my makeup and the bathroom could of been cleaner. The bathroom door had toothpaste splashed on it and shower tray had hairs ect. We then used the pool, sauna ,steam room and jacuzzi which we thought was great. Lovely lady on the spa desk who gave out towels had only been working there 5 weeks. She was a credit to the hotel and made us feel very welcome and gave us clear information as it was our 1st visit. We then had a beautiful meal in the restaurant which was included in the Friday night deal. The morning after we had a beautiful unlimited breakfast for £15 for two. Which is amazing value. It's the best buffet breakfast I have ever had. Food was plentiful and top quality. Usually I tend to find buffet breakfast dry because of being sat under the heat lamps, But not in this case.
Now the only thing I didn't like was the police was in the reception area when we went to breakfast which didn't bother me. But after breakfast we went to sit outside and there was quite a bit of blood on the flags next to main entrance where the table and chairs are. I immediately reported it to the girl in reception who said 'oh is it still there? I will get it cleaned up' we went back to the room to pack and and hour later we checked out and the blood was still there. I must say I would of given this hotel 10/10 until this incident. But now I would say 7/10 because know one wants to sit next to blood soaked flagged at anytime especially after enjoying a lovely breakfast.
I cannot emphasise how lovely all the staff are at this hotel. Which put us at ease from the moment we stepped inside. But there had obviously been some sort of disturbance hence the police being there and the blood splattered all over the flags. The cleaning up of this should of took priority because of hygiene reasons and the fact that it was to the right of the main entrance so every person entering and leaving would of seen it. Such a shame that a fantastic night away was tainted by careless mistakes.
