Attended the hotel on Saturday 17th October for the take that tribute night with a party of 7. Booking the rooms and tickets was made so easy by email with Annette at sales. Nothing too much trouble. Arrived on the day, no issues with checking in. Rooms spotless, and lovely. Had been concerned after reading reviews on here but mine was very clean (and I checked!!!). No noise issues. Couldn't hear anything from downstairs when I retreated to my room. Event was great fun. Bar not too expensive. Tables set beautifully and service fine. Only thing I wasn't raving about was the set meal food. Not the best but edible and the atmosphere amongst other revellers made up for it. Am already looking at booking again for new year!!!

Came here last Saturday for a spa day with a friend. The massage and facial were great - really relaxing but I felt the spa rooms could do with a refurb which is the only reason I've given 4 instead of 5 stars. We had lunch in the bar which was delicious and great atmosphere and decor! The staff were so friendly. The pool was excellent - great size and we enjoyed the sauna and steam room. Can't comment on the rooms as didn't stay over but we had a wonderful day!

Stayed on business and found it fine, the food was pretty poor but no worse than most hotels in same price range. Why dont hotels offer decent food, i stay away on business frequently and with the odd exception the food is always boring and predictable with no thought over menu variety, all fried and easy to cook from frozen.

Initial impressions of the hotel are tempered by the fact that it is necessary to climb a significant flight of steps to access the front door. This doesn't seem very friendly or accessible for people with a disability or those carrying heavy luggage. I'm sure that there is a ramp or lift but it isn't immediately obvious.

The reception staff were polite, friendly and efficient. My bedroom was large and comfortable but the decor can only be described as gloomy, with dim lighting and battleship grey walls, livened only by a brightly coloured carpet. Close inspection of the room and public areas showed that much of the paintwork is in need of re-doing, with a general air of things being a bit tired.

On the night of my stay there was a football match on television involving one of the major Manchester teams. This was being shown on the multiple screens in the bar, with the volume set at a level that made it impossible to ignore. As someone who has no interest in football I was forced to eat in the restaurant or go out. I decided on the restaurant where the service was a bit slow to start with but the food was good and the staff friendly.

Breakfast offered plenty of choice of hot and cold food but the availability of only white or brown sliced bread was a bit disappointing. It would have been nice to have had the option of some freshly baked 'real' bread.

My recommendation would be to request a room that faces away from the motorway as traffic noise is quite high.

We stayed for a family break to set us up for the busy rush up to Christmas. The room was OK a little tired in places, I found the battleship grey colour of the paintwork very oppressive and the lighting wasn't brilliant as I struggled to rea d my book. The room had a couple of issues, the thermostat on the wall had a lose front cover and the bathroom lock was faulty. Our 5 year old boy found this out when he locked himself in the bathroom and the lock came off in his hand. We had a frought few minutes trying to get him to calm down and then talk him through putting the piece back on so we could get him out.
Our 11 year old girl tossed and turned in the sofa bed all night and this disturbed all of us. In the morning I asked her why she didn't settle and she advised there was a large lump in the bed. OMG I wished she had said something goodness knows how she managed to sleep at all. To the hotels dues after bringing the issue of the lock and the bed to their attention both seemed to be sorted out whilst we were out for the day. The bathroom lock was no longer an issue but whilst the bed appeared to no longer have a single lump in the middle it still remained very uncomfortable for our girl. During the night when she still couldn't sleep after midnight I decided to drag the mattress off the bed and let her sleep on the floor which resulted in her having a better nights sleep. I brought it to the attention of the front desk upon checkout, they advised that the sofa beds are only for children up to the age of 12 looking at my daughter. I advised at this stage that she is in fact only 11, I realise she looks older as she is tall for her age but she is very slim so should have been perfectly OK on this type of bed.
We have stayed in hotels before who have sofa beds and because our son can sometimes jump in and out of our bed have myself slept in the sofa bed so we can all get some sleep and reduce the disruption. I have never known them to have been as uncomfortable as this one. We were offered a reduction in price which was very welcome and the advice that next time we book we will need to look at the option of interconnecting rooms. Would I stay again, yes of course providing the price remains competitive. The breakfast was very good and we really enjoyed ourself in the pool but never again will I put my children in a sofa bed, I think there are better options just wish I had been guided to them before our trip

The reception is a tad dark, as are the rooms, but the room was pretty good as a whole. I certainly would not describe the room we stayed in as outdated (as some people have describe there rooms in other reviews).

The receptionists were very friendly and so were the bar staff.

The gym was ok but the equipment was certainly getting old.

I got a good deal on the Friday but didn't really fancy paying double on the Saturday so went to a different hotel. If the price is right though, I wouldn't hesitate staying here again.

I stayed here to celebrate my granddaughters birthday. Last year We stayed at the Worsley Marriott Golf club hotel and it was a lot lot better.
I booked it 2 weeks prior and asked if something could be put into the room as a Surprise. I was happy to pay. I was told "yes"
On arrival the room did not contain a surprise, however I called reception and they brought a sweet card and some goodies.
I upgraded to an upperdeck room for £20 more and it really was not worth it. You couldn't flush the chain and it was pokey.
The worst experience was with the lady behind the desk in the gym area. She was diabolically rude. I can't even tell you, she was the type of woman who looks at you as though she hates you either because you are pretty or ugly. I wanted to look at the pool with my girl and she just talked on the phone for a few minutes. When she came off the phone I asked where the pool was. She said first in the left most perfunctorily. We walked past it, my fault, I came back and asked where it was again. She was on the phone again so just pointed. We went back and found it this time. We left and thanked her but she was on the phone so didn't acknowledge us at all.
We returned at 10 the next morning and to my dread she was behind the desk. We approached and she said to sign. We signed and went through. I looked for towels and somebody informed me they were behind the desk at reception. Oh no! I thought. I didn't want to go back to the desk but we had to. I asked for a towel and asked why she had not mentioned us needing them she said. "I thought you had them!!" We clearly had nothing at all in Our hands as we had put our costumes on under our clothes but no bag or anything. I rolled my eyes and left. She shouted after me. "You are so rude!" I never said anything and am not confrontational Ever!! My granddaughter was upset and asked why the lady was shouting at us. I was quite scared to be honest.
Apart from Miss angry. Helen and the reception and breakfast staff were wonderful. Very pleasant. The lady who welcomed us in to breakfast has saved my granddaughters cuddly toy for us the next day. Room service were equally lovely.
I will never go back there simply because of miss angry. It ruined our stay.

We went on a special offer of £49 for dinner & bed. The room was ok but the walls were painted a dark grey & the picture on the wall was dark grey too which made it all look a bit dull. Tired room in need of some decorating. Bed was way too soft so every time my hubby moved the whole bed shook so not a comfortable nights sleep. We asked for a morning paper but you have to go to reception to get it as they've been taken off the doors in the past if left outside the room. Dinner was ok but a very limited menu. Not sure I would visit again.

Have to say we had a wonderfull stay - staff very helpful. Asked for a football match to be shown and they were very helpful and went out of their way when I sent a request through. Great pool and facilities. Wouldn't hesitate to stop here again. Well done all

Came with a hen party group, just to use the spa. £10 per person to use the facilities, at first I thought that wasn't so bad however got past reception, got changed and all there was, was A pool, 2 rooms either side for sauna and steam a cold shower and a place to lie with one hot tub

Never been here before and I thought it would be better, I wanted the hen party to last a good few hours here however all you could really was swim and we didnt want that so ended up staying for 2 hrs apporx

The pub near the reception is overpriced too, £2.30 for a small coke...and £5.00 for a G & T

disappointed due to being overpriced for what you get , we all just hoped their would be more to do for £10 entry

Cannot comment on hotel its self as we didn't stay over

Did have a good day as we made the most of it :)
