We visited here as a treat as we were eating at a local restaurant and it saved a big taxi journey home.
Check in was great as it was via tablets in reception with people on hand to help if you were struggling. The bar was pricey but good - great atmosphere and drinks.
The rooms were - stripy! Stripy walls and stripy carpet. Too much to drink and you would walk on the walls. What happened to tasteful neutrals?
Other than that they were fine, we booked a superior - maybe not worth the money given we spent all of 30 minutes in there other then sleeping.
The bed was comfortable but we were facing the motorway which meant plenty of sirens. The couple we were with were on the floor below facing the river, we were envious until the following morning when we heard the wedding party had literally carried on until 4am. Which with fire doors is no joke.
The breakfast is well worth the extra. Absolutely delicious, regardless of the amount of hungover people they had to service. Plenty of choice and all delicious.
We went to the spa after breakfast. I have a vision of a spa as a relaxing place with various off shoot rooms to heat up, cool down etc. This was basically a huge pool with a sauna a steam room. Normally fine but they obviously maximise potential and have swimming lessons etc in the pool. Not really what I wanted on a Sunday morning.
Not sure we will stop here again, it served a purpose but I think next time I'll opt for the longer taxi journey and my own bed.......

I was booked into the Village Hotel Bury for a business trip and what a fantastic hotel it turned out to be. I travel all over the UK for work and I will be booking village hotels whenever possible going forwards.

Have stayed here several times and always been impressed by quality of service and friendliness of staff. We were disappointed this time to find the reception desk has been replaced by IT terminals and a solitary member of staff- not very welcoming. Also had disturbed night's sleep caused by drunken guests who had attended a function that night. Make a point of getting a room in the annex if you want a quiet night!

Good facilities at the hotel, very friendly staff and great breakfast stand out. We also experienced overall good service at a reasonable price. We shall certainly be coming back on our next visit to Manchester.

+ excellent friendly and helpful staff !
+ free car park
+ large room with a very nice bathroom
+ free and very very fast wi-fi
+ restaurant and bar to choose from
+ swimming pool, sauna, steam, jacuzzi, gym

- difficult accses to the front door of a hotel (stairs)
- selfchecking reception
- noisy walls and corridor out of a room
- cleanness of a room can be little bit improved especialy bathroom
- restaurant food is quiet pricy and chips came out burnt (the oil must have been ages old)
- pub food well, what can I say, just do not order any pizza (flatbread), it was rubbish
- location next to a very busy motorway

I Decided to try the village hotel on a saterday night as i had a food card and i had had a really nice sunday buffet there a few years ago. There where 2 functions on and while it was busy in the entrance the restaurant had one couple in and it had no atmosphere. The waitresses was friendly enough and gave us the menus nut i was quiet shocked how small it was specially for a hotel. The was about 6 starters and about 6/7 mains and the same for the sweets.i mentioned this to the waitress and she said they had just changed it.The portions were not huge but tasted ok.The women at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpfull but i wouldnt eat there again which would be to do with size of the menu and the lack of any atmosphere

The hotel is in a great location just off the motorway and it's easy to walk into Bury. We have been here previously on a number of occasions and always have a great time. The only downside this time was the fact that they are now charging to use the swimming pool which I have never come across before at other hotels.

stayed here for work for 2 nights. the rooms at the hotel are spacious and well decorated with big comfy beds and good showering facilities. The gym and swimming pool are of high standard. I ate in the bar one night and the food was good. My only criticism is that there could have more food selection at breakfast, no drinks are labelled and no orange juice which is pretty standard in most hotels. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful
