Stayed at the Village Bury overnight for a Hen Do party night. We don't live far away but thought we'd treat ourselves - relax during the day and make use of the facilities and get ready at the hotel and stay rather than paying the nearly the same price for taxis.

When we got to the hotel it turned out they had booked us into a double room instead of a twin and it was no where near the other rooms our friends were booked in to, even though we booked together. The difference between the rooms was also quite shocking, the older part of the hotel, although lovely, is very small and the first room they gave us you could hardly swing a cat in and it overlooked a dirty flat roof full of fag butts.

At the front desk they weren't very helpful at all when we approached them and just kept telling us they were fully booked. Eventually after asking to speak to a manager they agreed to move us to a room with a double bed and pull out bed and told us the pull out bed would be made up while we were at the party night. All this messing about ate into our time in swimming pool etc which I wasn't best pleased about, but they did offer us a drink each for the trouble and we managed to get a bottle of wine between us, although I didn't feel this was enough considering the hassle and definitely didn't think it was enough after returning from the party night late on to find the other bed hadn't been made up so we ended up having to bunk in together in the double bed. It's not the worse thing ever but when you're paying to stay somewhere you expect to get what you paid for, which was a twin room.

There was a big party of Manchester United fans in the hotel that night that are regulars there, so I couldn't help but think our twin room had been sacrificed for them.

The breakfast was good, plenty of choice. The swimming pool and sauna facilities are also good.

Booked this hotel for business and convenience, however would use for leisure as well, has fantastic facilities, the gym and pool area are lovely clean and welcoming. The rooms are comfy and clean, On site free spacious parking. Couple of different restaurants and themed nights in the bars. Value for money and staff always helpful and friendly.

Attended a "grease night" with work friends to celebrate a special birthday. We all made an effort dressing up in grease fancy dress, as did most of the other parties. Just a shame the hotel didn't make much of an effort with the "grease themed evening". They played a selection of songs from the film for approx 1 hour then it was just a dj & disco. Should not really been advertised or sold as a "grease themed night". Bit disappointing really.

Stayed a few times here before,so booked another trip in June, ooohhh dear whats happend??
1)Pool is really nice until you look closer, scum around the edges
2) Victory pub if its busy barmaids dont seem to know who is next?..Had to tell them people jumping in front of you and getting served.
3) Was offered a complimentary paper in the morning ,,still waiting 2 days on!!!
4) Vinny and Vito restaurant is only OK (use to have a really nice verve grill room before with a nice and varied selection) but now its just Italian was not busy on a Friday evening which may tell you something(probably a bad decsion by owners)
5) Breakfast use to be a lot better(warm bacon,waiting for eggs,empty dishes,)
had to wait for table!!!

Good points
1)Really friendy staff
2)Good price considering

Maybe back one day but will need some things changing and improving

Me and my boyfriend have stayed here twice now for my birthday 2012 and 2013 and had a great weekend both times! - I must admit the hotel rooms are a little bit more run down this year then when we went in 2012 where they had just been refurbished. we stayed in a double room with couch. Rooms have all you need and are still of a good standard.

The breakfast is to die for - all you can eat bacon, sausage, eggs, beans, cereals, pain au chocolate, cinnamon swirls, croissants, fresh juices, tea and coffee.

Go to the gym, take a dip in the pool, relax in the sauna and steam room.

we've had meals in the bar and there nice although we did go into bury centre both times as its round the corner and there's plenty to do such as bowling cinemas, nandos and shopping.

the only problem was it was dearer this year to stay than the previous year. £70 for one night this year, £104 for 2 nights last year even though its slightly run down.

Overall, great stay may make it a third stay next year.

Looked forward to staying at The Village hotel in Bury but the disappointment started before we entered the hotel. There wasn't a ramp into the hotel for wheelchair users but there was a lift, it was raining and no shelter over the lift entrance so we were wet and cold waiting for the lift to come, the lift took us up 1 floor (still outside) I then pushed the chair to the entrance passing all the smokers milling around the door - not a good start! The room was okay just one or two niggles but these were sorted out quickly which was good. I found the lighting all around the hotel very dim and the pub was a bit grubby - just not what I expected. At breakfast on the first morning I thought the staff could have been a bit smarter and more friendlier and the food a bit better. Next morning it was like a different hotel - staff all dressed the same and very pleasant even though it was a lot busier, the food was better too! The swimming pool was great, warm and clean, definitely a plus. Saying all that the hotel was very busy.

We had a nice three nights despite the hot weather I wish the rooms would have had air conditioning as our room was roasting and having the window open all night ment it was a noisey stay. The new Italian was fab and it had some great choices. The meatballs are a real filler. The swimming pool was nice but it needs a clean It seems ok at first but it doesn't take long to notice the grime on the sides. As for our room it was compact but ok the blinds however needed a clean it made me laugh to see clean mean April 2013 written in the dust on them. The service and staff at the Victory bar are great.

We've stayed here many times in recent years we booked B&B for 2 nights for a family room.
Check in was quick and friendly on Sunday. It's a shame my 12 yr old couldn't have a swim as it closes to under 16's at 1700 during the week and 1800 on Sunday.
The room (254)was of Premier Inn size. The bed is of king size but had a foam top...which makes the bed even warmer. My daughter was using the bed settee. She complained that it was Sid, which I ignored until the following day when I sampled it....and I simply don't know how she slept!!
We've never known hotels these days not have air conditioning. These rooms don't! It was hot outside and even hotter in the room. The windows were open which meant that even when the motorway was quiet, you can still hear the heating system for the pool and the 5am deliveries or the 11pm bottle bank emptying!!
Our final night was sleepless as there was a high pitch whistle coming from the bathroom which I feel was the broken extractor fan. It sounded like a continuous dog whistle from 2am to 8am! I have it recorded too!!
The pool is lovely. The facilities are fab. Really clean.
The bar areas are good too.
The breakfast was less than appetising! I hate food left under heated lights...that's exactly what they do. The eggs weren't replenished until I chased a waitress for some. I really wouldn't recommend breakfast here....a big disappointment.
I feel the pool was attracting us to stay...but think in September, we will be using the Premier Inn in Bury

Second visit to the De Vere village this year and what an improvement! Glad to see the verve restaurant has been replaced by Vinny and Vito :). Had a lovely stay here for 2 nights with my partner and little girl. Service was faultless the staff in the bar and restaurant were fantastic. Definitely value for money in my eyes. Lovely swimming pool area the little one loved the floats they had out to use. Food from bar and restaurant was of a really good quality. Would certainly recommend!!
