If you get a special deal this can be a fun family night away. The bedrooms are decent in size and beds comfy, our room needed a good clean so we asked to move and the upper deck room was very well cleaned. The gym facilities were great but the spa a little expensive. Pub served good wine and had a fun atmosphere. The restaurant food was high quality but overpriced, we were given discount vouchers for the restaurant on departure. The food was so good but it was empty in the restaurant so perhaps the high prices put people off? Oh and 3 menus was confusing, one menu would be better in my opinion. Breakfast was average, good choice but the hot breakfast was greasy and cheap, it wasn't that busy so an egg cooked to order would have made a big difference. Overall it's a handy location, lots on offer for a hotel and rooms are competitively priced so we will go again

we booked a family room for two nights, but on arrival i wasnt sure if this was a family room? i queried this at reception only to be told it was a family room. our kids were meant to share a sofa bed, however, we felt this inappropriate as they are male and female and different ages. so my husband and son shared the sofa bed and we had the large comfy bed! the hotel was immaculately clean in every area. the leisure facilities where fantastic although the kids pool times where a little restricting. we ate at the hotel both nights, good choice and good quality food although on the first night they forgot the kids meal! however, my husband did complain to management about the room and they acted really quickly, we were given a better room with 2 kids beds and sky movies for the kids so well done village, we enjoyed our stay and would thinks about booking again, in an upper deck room

I have stayed in this hotels many times in the last 5 years due to work in the area. This is the first time back in about 18 months with the comments below:
Positive:
Rooms are fairly big
Choice of food good
Access to the free gym and pool is very good. Lots of equipment to use and large pool. Does get busy in peak times
Very friendly and approachable staff (Espicially on reception)

Negatives

Room felling tired. Dirty marks on wall. Toilet missing gromets on seat. Loose electric socket.Dirty Shower area.
I had a disabled room with a joining door that banged when the window was opened.
I ate in the resturant, food was ok. Service took ages (Over an hour for garlic bread and meatballs)
Breakfast - Ate at 7.30am not great quite good choice but had been sitting there a while.

Suggestions
Try and get a room that is not in the back. These rooms are not refurbished and are a walk to reception.

I stayed at the hotel on the recommendation of a colleague as it was an ideal place to meet him for breakfast.
I must point out that I booked late (only 24 hours before checking in) so didn't expect the best price. I was offered a twin room at £109 and opted for breakfast at an additional £10. So for £120 I was expecting a reasonable stay. My room had two spongy single beds and it really could have been cleaned better (plenty of dust in the corners and the bathroom could do with new silicon as it was dirty).
I used the gym and left my room key as security. The gym is good with plenty of equipment however when I went to reclaim my key they had lost it along with the paper sleeve with the room number written on it! I sprinted back to my room and thankfully nothing was missing so they recoded the keys.
The breakfast was the most annoying detail. I had prepaid 10 pounds and met my colleague who had walked in off the street and only paid £5! I know this sounds petty but it is quite galling. When I checked out I asked the desk about the discrepancy and they said there was nothing they could do and the £5 was a 'special seasonal ' offer .
According to my friend he has only ever paid £5 and the special offer has been running for at least the last two years!

In summary, could be cleaner. Gym is good. Don't pay for breakfast.

I Came Here On 18th &19th April 2013, This Hotel Was Chosen By The Company Who Was Training Us. Was Very Impressed By The Outside & Interior Of The Hotel, The Staff Were More Than Helpful, Food Was Very Nice, Good Selection, Whilst I Didnt Stay Overnight Other People From My Group Did And The Only Complaint I Heard About The Rooms Was Uncomfy Pillows....(Each To There Own)

Very busy hotel, located just where we needed to be. Good room but not very well lit and with dark decor. On the plus side breakfast was good and the hotel let us have a late checkout at no extra charge. Didn't use it but there was probably the largest swimming pool I have seen in a hotel, anywhere. Free wifi was also a bonus. Other guests did seem to make themselves heard at night in the corridors

Stayed here on a Friday night on a Dinner B&B package, in an "Upperdeck" room for £95
The room was good and clean with a very comfortable bed ensuring a good nights sleep.
We ate in the Victory which supplied its usual fine standard of food, which gave you a £14.50 per head allowance on anything from the menu and if you went over you paid the difference (I think the same goes for the italian if you don't want to choose from their set menu and want to go for the full on). The breafast was good with plenty of choice and cooked items being brought out on a regular basis.
All the staff we had dealings with were very pollite, cheery and helpful
The swimming pool is nice and sectioned for people who want to swim and people who want to just mellow, it has various 3 spa pools, a steam room and a suana (which part of the seating was barried due to it being broken, this would not take much to fix)
The outside of the hotel needs a facelift as it is looking quite tired.
When you consider all that you get for your money it is well worth the price, i would have given it 5 had the place not looked so tired in the public areas.

I recently dined in the victory pub which is situated inside the village hotel, I asked to see a children's menu which a young man kindly informed me of offers they had on at the time, this was greatly appreciated as it meant my 2 children ate for free! Under 5's eat free! (Excellent)
The only thing to receive this offer was for 1 adult per child to eat at full price, there was me and my husband eating so this was music to our ears, as I went to the bar to order the same young man was quick and efficient to serve me and greeted me with a smile,(I think he was called Dane), I started to place my order, as I started to order my children's meal there seemed to be a problem with the till, the young man explained that he would resolve the situation (I assumed he was a manager as he had a black t-shirt on) he explained what he had to do in order for me to receive this good offer, "fine no problem" was my reply, so I continued to order, as I was ordering a woman wearing the same uniform popped her head round the bar and said very abruptly "you can't do that", she then rambled off a stipulation to me on the offer which meant I had to pay for the drink, "it's not what it says on the menu" was my reply, as though I had just slapped her with a wet fish she expressed an attitude of "I can't be botherd arguing", she then told the POLITE man to "oh just do it" and she stormed off, I made a comment to the man along the lines of "great customer service eh" to which he actually apologised on her behalf which made me feel awful as he had done nothing wrong, I could see he was quite embarrassed by the situation. In the end the man served me exactly what I wanted and the order was complete, his service was quick and friendly, HE was a credit to village, the food was very nice and i will certainly return for more, As for the lady I'm sorry to say but she let the place down. She had a bad attitude and I hope she is not working on my next visit.

I was here last week for a friends 60th birthday,it was my first time here.It is a busy place with lots of others celebrating birthdays and hen nights. The food was average as they were serving for over 200 people they did quite well. The entertainment was the main reason we were all there it was good too, with lots of music for different age groups.I did not stay in the hotel but some of my friends did and they said their rooms were good. The pool area looked lovely too.It is easy to get too off the motorway with ample car parking.
