We initially stayed 2 weeks ago for 5 Nights and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the hotel from the rooms, breakfast, bar, swimming and spa facilities to the very friendly and attentive staff in all outlets. On the last night of our initial stay we did encounter some noise problems from another guests but this was dealt with by Georgina who listened and dealt with our complaint in such a way that we came away feeling that we had just sat and had a chat with a friend and turned our frustration and upset around by dealing with the situation professionally and to our total satisfaction! We are now at the end of another stay for 2 nights and everything has been fantastic. We have been visiting relatives and whilst we have been busy running around like headless chickens during the day, it has also felt like a holiday in the evenings by making use of the wonderful facilities and room. We will definately make this a regular place to stay when we return again to visit our families! 😃

Firstly I must point out that I am reviewing this establishment for it's hosting of an entertainment event, and not the
Hotel accommodation.

I booked a party of 6, including my wife and myself, for a 'Boogie Tribute Night' event on the 22 August. The price of
entry included a 3 course meal, free glass of wine, and a DJ to entertain until 1 in the morning. Tickets
cost £12.95 per head through the 'Group On' website.

Many events like this include a meal in the price, but it is often not too good and the portions are meager. However we
were pleasantly surprised by the meal at the Boogie Nights event, which comprised Tomato Soup with bread roll, Chicken
with Mash and Vegetables in a light gravy, followed by a chocolate cake with whipped cream for dessert. The food was
served on time, was hot and tasty and portions were just right.

About 100 people attended the event. The hall where it was staged was well laid out, with plenty of room
between tables and a good sized dance floor.

Bar prices were a little elevated even for a Hotel.

As for entertainment, the DJ, who was probably in his late twenties, started off the evening by playing a selection of
dance tunes from the 1970s, which of
course was referred to as 'Disco' at the time. All the favourites came out, especially those connected with the classic
Movie 'Saturday Night Fever'. However, as the night wore on it became apparent that despite his youth the DJ was reluctant
to move on from the
1970s to include more recent numbers. After 3 requests from our party alone the DJ finally progressed to playing
sounds of the 1980s. Following further requests, in the later part of the evening the music mix included some up-to-date
releases, but he still insisted on returning to the 1970s on occasion. Also the volume of the Sound System seemed to grow
progressively as time passed, so that towards the end of the
night it was almost impossible to engage in conversation.

Having said all that it was quite an enjoyable evening and the DJ's preference for the 1970s did bring back some fond
memories of the decade that style forgot. It also has to be said that the price of the ticket was good value given the
quality of the meal provided.

But seriously, man, someone should take the DJ to one side and point out that Dance music didn't suddenly cease to
be released after 1979.

The Village Urban Resort is conveniently located off Junction 2 of the M66 and there is ample free parking to
the front of the Hotel.

I wrote last time that I was disappointed with our stay for various reasons! I am pleased to say that this time was much much better! We stayed in an upgraded room and the bed was much better , really comfortable and the room was lovely too! Although I do sort of think these things should come as standard I would definitely upgrade again. Breakfast was nice, staff were friendly !

I booked the Friday feeling offer to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I emailed the hotel 3 times prior to arrival and still not had a reply. I wanted to ask if they did any special upgrades for anniversaries. We checked in quickly and went to our room. We had an upgraded room which we paid extra for but the Bose speaker system they advertise isn't really much use if you have an IPhone 5 or above as it didn't fit! The room could have done with being a bit cleaner but we didn't complain as we only needed it for 1 night. The 3 course meal which was included in the package was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. What we didn't like was the location of our room. It was on the 1st floor above the entrance of the hotel. They had a soul night party so when people were smoking and leaving they were stood right under our window. We even heard arguing and fighting that was very loud and kept us awake until 2am. We complained to reception in the morning and said we'd had an awful nights sleep so wanted to check out early so we could go home for some sleep. Not sure whether we would use this hotel again but if we did we would certainly be asking for a quieter room

We stopped in room 271 as a family whilst doing activities during the day.

The leisure facilities are good swimming pool with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna is great. Just be aware that there are junior times which finish at about 6/7.

The Verve restaurant is amazing. The food and service is fantastic with a range of different menus. Starbucks was good but note it is not open till late.

WiFi was good with no slow performance.

The room was the down side of the the trip. Firstly I booked a family room over the phone and they had a normal room which meant they need to set the sofa bed up. This was really uncomfortable for the kids.

The rooms are dark with very little light and with plugs in the wrong and unaccesible places. They are too hot with no air conditioning.

TV quality is poor with basic channels.

Sleep was disturbed both nights once by a private function and then by deliveries first thing in the morning.

We asked be to upgraded to Upperdeck but told children were not allowed in the rooms.

This hotel is not designed for families and need to focus on sorting their accommodation out.

I have had a better experience in a Premier Inn and regret paying the extra.

I stay here 10/12 times a year and it's a good business hotel. Service at front of house is always on point and staffs how an interest in you at all times. Rooms, stay away from the rooms in the main part of the hotel, they are dated, lack light and wall plugs. Look to stay in the annex or go Upper deck if the budget allows. There can be a lot of evening functions on so always ask and ensure your room is away from the conference rooms. Leisure facilities are excellent and open at 6.00am until 10.00pm. Avoid 5 - 7 as the regular gym goers tend to flock in after work. Bar food is good and what you would expect from and food. Restaraunt offers a great breakfast in the morning and a good dinner menu in the evening. Service is always good. If you are getting room service plan ahead, it can often take 40 minutes or more depending on how busy they are. Starbucks is also in the reception area and you can purchase on your room which is a good option. Wifi is usually good for streaming Netflix, Skygo and Spotify. I would not stay here on a couples weekend or a family get away, it is business and event focused.

Enjoyed a one night break with a friend. We booked here as its local, and we didn't want to be travelling too far. Booked via Spa Breaks and got dinner bed and breakfast with two treatments for £100. I thought this was excellent price! Had manicure and pedicure. I think as it was a cheap offer, treatments a little rushed. Nail Polish was knocked on toes. To be fair I never said anything, as I didn't want to cause a fuss. I think the girl did notice as I saw her looking. The pool / sauna / steam room great. Obviously well used but clean. The jacuzzi was a little busy most of the time but ok. The food in restaurant lovely. It was very quiet, which seemed a shame. Staff nice throughout stay. Would recommend a visit.
