The local charity - which offers supportive and end of life care to patients and their families affected by cancer or another serious progressive illness - sees over 1,000 patients a year, and is keen to ease the transport situation for as many of them as possible. Its volunteer drivers collect patients from their homes and drive them to the Beacon Centre opposite the Royal Surrey County Hospital so that they can attend Day Hospice, medical appointments and therapy sessions. This practical support is vital to many patients, who would struggle to get to and from the Beacon Centre alone.
