Two minutes' silence was observed across Cambridge this morning as local people paid their respects to the many lives lost in the First World War.
The Mayor of Cambridge, Sheila Stuart, led a ceremony at the American Cemetry in Cambridge at 11am, laying a rememberance wreath to fallen soldiers on behalf of Cambridge residents.
11am this morning marked the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the anniversary of the day peace returned to Europe at the end of the First World War.
This Sunday, the mayor will attend the ceremony at the war memorial in Station Road, whilst a civic procession will take place between the Guildhall and Great St Mary's Church.
The Church will also be holding a Service of Rememberance from 10:45am on Sunday.
