Network Rail has today released a report highlighting the extent to which cable theft from our railways has caused delays, cancellations and travel misery for hundreds of commuters that use the railways everyday.
The figures released covered the East Anglian region, with hundreds of incidents of theft documented, thousands of journeys seriously affected, and millions of pounds lost in compensation. To add insult to injury, the hotspots for this criminal shopping spree are signals, points and other important areas of infrastructure, which are dangerous, as well as a general annoyance!
So keep in mind next time your train is delayed, or you have to make other travel arrangements that it may be that your best interests are in mind in disrupting your journey, all thanks to the cable criminals of East Anglia!
