A run down bingo hall could be given a new lease of life in Cambridge after an offer was put in to convert the massive art deco hall on Hobson Street, formerly Gala Bingo, into a new cinema development.
Whilst planning permission must still be sought before any work can begin, local estate agents Bidwells, who currently manage the historic property, have confirmed it has received an offer from a business that wishes to return it to its previous use as a cinema.
The property was home to squatters for a short period until they were evicted and metal shutters placed over the windows and doors.
Local action group, ‘The Cambridge Anarchists’ have spoken out in favour of handing the property over to local people for community use.
