A survey has shown that over 90,000 small business and entrepreneurs in Cambridge and the East of England have turned to Business Link for advice or support within the last twelve months.
Of these, a third were still in the earliest stages of starting up, a statistic that Business Link claims to show that the entrepreneurial spirit of Cambridge and the East has not been slowed by the recession.
The remaining companies, which represent over 55,000 businesses in the region, outlined they had consulted Business Link for 'advice on how to survive, sustain or grow' during the economic downturn.
In Cambridge itself, 13,214 businesses have turned to Business Link for advice this year, with 5,178 of these being new or 'start-up' companies.
Will Pope, chairman of the East of England Development Agency which funds Business Link commented: "During such a critical, unsettling and often changing period in the world of business, companies from this region have once again turned to EEDA’s Business Link service for the invaluable advice, support and guidance that they need."
