More lives could be saved across the region after plans for a helipad at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge were given the green light, following years of campaigning and fundraising by local groups and individuals.
Hospital bosses have put forward detailed plans for the helipad on land south of the Rosie maternity ward.
The new pad will cut out difficult journies to the hospital from neighbouring helipads and allow patients to be conveyed swiftly into A & E or trauma wards for life saving attention.
