Some of you may have noticed that there was a tinge of anticipation in the air yesterday morning, a soupçon of excitement perhaps? Well its not every day the Queen comes to visit, is it?
Cambridge was one of the very lucky cities the Queen took the time out to visit yesterday, two days ahead of the greatly anticipated wedding of the decade on Friday, and we were delighted to welcome her.
Howvever, the wedding was not the focus of the visit; Queen Elizabeth attended the Botanical Gardens to open the new Sainsbury plant science laboratory there, where she greeted children from the St Mary’s and then moved down to the colleges to greet thousands who had turned out to greet her and the Duke of Edinburgh.
Now maybe you are beginning to tire of the furore surrounding Friday's nuptials, but one cannot deny that this visit from THE Great British Institution is something Cambridge can be very proud of! Keep your newspapers, start a scrap book and remember this day; as I said it's not everyday the Queen comes to Cambridge!
