Cambridge's very own culinary wizard, Alex Rushmer narrowly missed gaining the Masterchef title in last night's hotly contested final on BBC 1.
Alex, 27, who studied and lives in Cambridge, was praised by the judges for his Pheasant Saltimbocca starter and Venison Loin main course with Braised Red Cabbage and Porcini Mushrooms.
However, he ran into trouble with his Spiced Pear Tarte-Tatin dessert, served with Blue Cheese Ice Cream, Spiced Caramel and Pickled Walnuts.
Alex hopes to go on to open his own restaurant in Cambridge following his success on the popular show, explaining that "The whole experience has reinforced my belief that I want to work in cooking."
