A campaign to save a much loved local library has been launched after its future was put into review, alongside several others across the city.
The Friends of Milton Road Library held a packed public meeting to announce the campaign last week, following the announcement that service bosses were considering closing many libraries in Cambridge to meet central budget demands.
Richard Robertson, chairman of the Milton Road Group, explained, "The council has announced various options for the organisation of library services including asking the voluntary sector to take it on, but running libraries in the local community is as basic a council service as providing schools near where people live."
