Icy driving conditions make roads treacherous.
Cambridge emergency services found their resources stretched to breaking point over the weekend as icy conditions on the region's roads led to five times more accidents than normal.
Over 30 road traffic incidents had occurred on Cambridgeshire roads before 10.30am on Sunday, putting great strain on the county's ambulance crews.
Most of the incidents involved cars skidding across the roads into ditches, particularly on the A11 and A14. Nobody is thought to have been seriously hurt.
Local forecasts predict temperatures will not drop below freezing for the rest of the week.
