Plans for congestion charging in Cambridge were halted this week following the Government's decision not to approve the proposal.
The plans, which were initially outlined to help reduce congestion within Cambridge city centre, included a new rail Station at Chesterton and the allocation of almost five hundred million pounds of central funds towards the scheme.
A Department for Transport spokesperson outlined that proposals from Cambridgeshire County Council did not meet the criteria for funding and that the knowledge gained from this exercise should be used for future plans.
