Do you feel like you're facing an uphill struggle in marketing your Cambridge business?

Follow these seven simple steps on how to make your business stand out from the crowd:

  1. Get noticed! Use testimonials, press releases and case studies to showcase your business values, USPs and professionalism. Websites such as LinkedIn and thebestof help to make your customers' recommendations look genuine rather than a marketing ploy on your website.
  2. Create a niche for yourself. Identify and then focus on one area of the market and then become the 'guru' for those in this niche. Not only will your referrals increase as customers seek you out - your marketing costs will also go down.
  3. Under promise and over deliver! Ensure that you are always able to deliver before the specified deadline.
  4. Let people know about your expert knowledge. If you have a specific skill-set (such as Facebook landing page design) or knowledge about a relevant subject, you will become a valuable asset to your customer base.
  5. Understand your strengths and weaknesses. No matter how hard we try, we can't be good at absolutely everything! Capitalise on your strengths and find someone else to take care of your weaker areas.
  6. Ask your customers questions! Not only will you demonstrate your interest in the client, but you may also uncover additional issues and opportunities that you can help them with.
  7. Follow up on a regular basis. It's much more cost-effective to keep your existing customers rather than constantly seeking new prospects. Follow up on all leads, offer excellent customer service, check the status of current projects, gather feedback to ensure satisfaction in the future and ask for repeat orders. Follow these simple guidelines and before you know it, your past customers will return.
