Shoppers across Cambridge are being warned to keep an eye on their valuables in Cambridge following a string of thefts in supermarket car parks.
The thefts have followed a particular trend, whereby victims have returned to their vehicles and placed their bags inside. The thieves have then distracted shoppers by asking for directions whilst another individual steals from the bag and vehicle.
The most recent offence took place last Tuesday 1st June at Tesco car park in Cherry Hinton.
Detective Sergeant John Yore commented: "I would ask women to be mindful of what is happening around them as they load their shopping in to their vehicles. In all these examples, the men have waited for the handbag to be placed on the front seat so an accomplice has easy access to it."
