Sue, Ben, and the rest of the team at Toad's are fantastic. They are calm, patient, friendly, and most importantly, teach you how to drive. Not just pass. Drive. I wanted to write more and wax lyrical about how good they are, but with 350 five star reviews already, I think you get the picture...

A sublime driving school. I was confident with them from the very first lesson, 6 months ago. The lessons are a little more expensive than some driving schools, but worth every penny. You get the great lessons you pay for! I passed my theory test first time, my practical is booked for early next month. Ben gives plenty of feedback, he taught me to be a safe and confident driver while keeping lessons enjoyable.

I started driving in September with Nicola and so far every lesson has been informative, well supported and enjoyable. Even before we went on the road extra support was offered in the form of a few sessions on starter sessions on a nearby farm track, which hugely helped to build my confidence before learning on the road. Two of my siblings have been lucky enough to have been taught by toad and are both confident drivers, so I have a great deal of faith in the standard of the teaching at Toad. Thank you!

I recently passed my driving test after having bad experiences with my previous driving instructor and being recommended to Sue. My previous instructor was cheaper which is why I originally chose him, however, the price showed. He didn't teach me to drive safely, simply just to control the car and in 40 lessons he hadn't picked up something so simple which was affecting my driving; I was using my leg to control the clutch rather than my foot/ankle (Sue picked this up within a minute of my first lesson and I immediately found it easier to find the biting point). There were so many things which I had not been taught for example, bay parking as it wouldn't be at the test centre, however, I would need this when I passed my test; basically he taught me to control a car and not drive safely and confidently. I had 40 lessons with my previous instructor and 4 tests which I failed due to being so unconfident and not knowing how to drive safely. I was ready to give up thinking that I couldn't drive when Sue was recommended to me, I thought this is my last try. I had 3 double lessons with Sue and passed my test with only 2 minors. On my first lesson with Sue it was clear that I was only looking at what was directly in front of the car and not far ahead, which is why I was so unconfident being in the new area as I was originally learning in a different area and didn't know what was coming up. I began to talk out loud, saying the things I could see ahead, this made me aware of the things coming up and where I should be looking. Sue also drove at one point so that I was able to not worry about controlling the car and simply look ahead; this really helped me to gain a wider understanding. Sue was so calm, understanding, put me at ease and knew the best ways to teach me to drive safely not just control the car. Sue is worth the extra money which if I was to add up the amount for my tests and car hire with my previous instructor I would have paid a lot more in the long run. For people taking the test soon, it is very nerve racking which is to be expected, however, I didn't think of it as a test and simply that Sue had a sore throat so couldn't talk so another instructor was taking my lesson with Sue in the back who had told them previously that I could drive with no help so to just give me instructions. This really helped to keep me calm and Sue was able to put me at ease and keep as calm as possible. I am so grateful for everything Sue has done for me; bringing up my confidence and teaching me to drive safely. After 2 weeks of driving I still think of Sue when I get worried – if you worry chicken out, if you go wrong don’t panic just correct it and look far enough ahead to know what is coming up or happening ahead.
Thank you Sue for being an amazing driving instructor, my family cannot believe how much my confidence has grown towards driving.
