Firewood Direct are an Ashford based company that can provide Canterbury and the South East with quality kiln dried hardwood firewood logs.
Burning logs is environmentally friendly as it is carbon neutral and net carbon emissions can be reduced compared to fossil fuels. Using wood does not only mean more economical fuel bills, but in turn sustains rural employment.
Freshly harvested wood contains a naturally high amount of water, between 65-90% depending on the species. The removal of this water from natural drying is known as "seasoning" which on average can take two years. Buying and using damp firewood can result in more cost as less heat is produced and the excess moisture can actually cause burner, stove, flue or even chimney problems.
All of Firewood Direct's timber is cut into small logs as soon as possible and placed into purpose built kilns where forced hot air reduces the moisture content to less than 20% providing a hotter, cleaner burn.
Firewood Direct logs are hardwood and comprised mainly of hornbeam, oak, birch, sycamore or ash. The logs are cut to around 9" in size, however customer specific sizes are available upon request.
