Poor old Cardiff - what a sad weekend for our top sports teams!

I am still recovering from the sad news that Cardiff City will not be in the play-offs and the Blues have been pipped from the Heiniken Cup Final by a Penalty shoot out.

My thoughts on the Bluebirds is that as once someone said to me in a 46 game season you really finish where you deserve to. The play-offs are all about momentum and City were running on quick sand in the final few matches I don't believe they could have gone up but at least Ninian Park would have had the big match send off it deserved - a great shame.

What gets my goat is those that come after Dave Jones for the failure. He has led his side to their highest ever finish in the Championship since Cardiff were promoted. He has not had the luxury of parachute payment cash like many of those sides above him and he has again shown what an asute dealer in transfers he is. The players have to carry the can for the final few matches - they bottled it - end of.....

As far as the Blues are concerned- like any penalty shoot out luck and practise play there part. The Blues can hold their heads up high and have proven themselves a good cup side. Now the Magners league for week in, week out performances needs improvement.

Perhaps for both sides a new Stadium will prove a catalyst for that final 5% to take them over the wiunning line for the ambitions for success for both clubs - rest, re-group and bring on next season!!!
