It has been interesting how Poppy Day in November has become more popular in recent years, even fashionable. It is great that once a year the nation thanks our armed forces both past and serving for the sacrifices that they make.
Recently, a client recommended a way of showing our appreciation to our serving troops on an ongoing basis. Red Fridays.
Red Fridays is a website where the public can leave brief messages of support for our serving armed forces. Also, Red Fridays is a support campaign that encourages people to wear a red item of clothing every Friday as a mark of respect and support for our serving armed forces.
This seems to me to be a simple and effective idea. We should respect the sacrifices our armed forces make daily abroad and this helps not to blank out the deaths reported from Afghanistan on the news most nights.
So, I challenge readers of this blog to go on the website and leave a message of support for our serving troops and to wear something red this Friday and every Friday to show your support. Who knows perhaps the power of positive thought can make all of the difference to our troops abroad. It is worth a try!
