Some of the best bands and musical artistes from Cardigan and Teifi Valley and way beyond feature regularly in the programme at the Castle Café Cellar Bar in Cardigan. It’s a fab little venue dedicated to keeping music live in the area – and there are other events here too.

The Cellar Bar is a superb venue and there is live music on most Friday and Saturday nights – at entrance prices that won’t break the bank.
It’s Open Mic night every Thursday with free entry. If you have something to sing or play, just turn up and book your slot. Or relax and enjoy the performances from a great variety of musicians and singers.

September 4th and 5th -- The Cellar Festie, presented by Cariad, features Tough Love, Lazarus Carpenter, Claire Axtell, Blacktooth, Jo Couzens, Les Coveney, Sandwitch, Paul Hayes, Marcus & Thompson, Ian Cal Ford, Qazu & The Adventures of Bert & Henry.

The last Friday of each month is devoted to the spoken word event, the popular Cellar Bards. There is usually a special guest writer or two and there is always an open mic session which gives many talented local writers the chance to perform their work.
The September event, on Friday, September 25th features a double bill of guests -- award winning writer Maggie Harris and former journalist and poet Jackie Biggs.
Maggie, who lives in the Teifi Valley, was born in Guyana. She has won the Guyana Prize for her poetry and was the Caribbean winner of the Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2014. She has had several collections of poetry published, plus a memoir and two short story collections, the latest of which, In Margate by Lunchtime, was published this year.
Jackie, who worked in various media and local press until three years ago is publishing her first collection of poetry this autumn. Her poetry has been published widely in the UK and abroad.
