A music entertainment event for all the family takes place on August 28th and 29th in a beautiful countryside setting just north of Cardigan. The Gwyl Crug Mawr Festival 2015 has plenty of free activities for children, plus some great music from some of the best bands in Wales.

Bands from near and far

Offering opportunities to local bands is a priority of the Gŵyl Crug Mawr Festival, as is using local companies such as Corryn Du and Mafon, both of whom are running stages this year.

The festival was started three years ago by farmer and owner of the site, Richard 'Oernant' Jones, who has brought together a group of like-minded people with the aim of creating a Welsh language event for people from the surrounding area, as well as from all across Wales.

Some of the big names featured this year are Candelas, winners of Y Selar's Band of the Year; Swnami, fresh from their European festivals ; Y Bandana, one of Wales' best known bands, and Mr Phormula, the beatboxer and rapper making his name on the international scene.

Other familiar artists include Geraint Lovgreen a'r Band, local rockers Ail Symudiad, Plu, Bromas and Estrons, along with young, local bands Y Ffug, Castro, Ysgol Sul, Tymbal and Cpt Smith.

Away from the main stages are an eclectic range of alternative musicians with Gwenno (formerly of The Pippettes) and HMS Morris among the standouts.

On Saturday, August 29th, there will be various free activities for children, with bat-box building, sing-along sessions, a bird of prey display and ukelele workshops.

Various foods and drinks will be on offer to enjoy while watching the bands on the new outdoor stage, before the sun goes down and the main stage comes to life.

Tickets for Crug Mawr Festival on Friday, August 28th only are £15, tickets for the Saturday from 12 noon are £17.50, and tickets for the whole weekend are only £25. Saturday is family day between 11.30 am and 4pm and there is a special offer for a family ticket, only available on the gate at £20 for two adults and any number of children under the age of 12 years (adults may return in the evening at no extra charge).

Free camping is available onsite.
