One of the best one-day agricultural shows in Wales is held just outside Cardigan at the end of July each year and this year’s event is set to be a great crowd-puller. There will be a new display ring and a brand new attraction on the showfield – Circus Skills!
New attractions this year
The committee at the Cardigan County Show have some new attractions lined up for the 2015 show, which is held at Briscwm, just south of the town, all day on Wednesday, July 29.
This year they are introducing a smaller display ring, so the public will be nearer to the demonstrations. And they are bringing Circus Skills onto the show field to keep the kids happy for an hour or two.
The Demonstration ring is the central focus of the show with a 150-seat Grandstand.
This year the show will be featuring the Sheepdog Trials Challenge for three invited Young Handlers from Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
A great favourite for 2015 will be the Cattle Parade, a spectacle missing from the Show for many years, and reintroduced to great acclaim last year.
One of the main attractions on the showground is always the Food Hall, which houses a variety of locally produced food and drinks. There will also be talks and demonstrations taking place through the day.
Farmers from miles around will be showing their best animals – from dairy and beef cattle to sheep, goats, dogs, pigs, donkeys.
And the horse show is always a big favourite with many classes and the showjumping is a great event -- there will be plenty to see in all categories.
There will also be field crop competitions, there is always a fantastic horticultural section, vintage and classic tractors, birds of prey, sheep shearing demonstrations, craft tent, loads of trade stands and refreshments.
It’s just a fantastic day out.
