The Pavillion Café at the Penrallt Garden Centre is an ideal place to have morning coffee, lunch and or afternoon tea.
In fact this Garden Centre is a day out, an attraction. They have a trout lake in which you can fish. If you like a walk there are two walks directly from the garden centre. When we visit we take the dog – do the coastal walk, come back for lunch or snack and then peruse the garden centre. David (hubby) enjoys the first two – not so keen on the second. David loves the homemade scones they serve. Apparently (I’m gluten free so sadly can’t eat them) they are gorgeous, David particularly likes the Cheese & Bacon ones especially warmed through! They also have Cheese & Marmite and Cheese and onion if you are into savoury and for sweet, scrummy plain, fruit or cherry scones served with Summer Berry Jam and Pembrokeshire clotted cream. The Summer Berry Jam is spectacularly good. We bought a pot and I will admit to indulging in a spoonful direct from the jar – it is that good! It is a good place for a light lunch from Homemade soups, Jacket Potatoes, seasonal salads, toasted paninis and a delicious range of homemade specials such as Lamb Cawl, Shepherds Pie and Chilli. They always have a vegetarian option.
Once hunger is satisfied there is much to see around the garden centre. All the planning with glass of wine in hand is now being brought to fruition. This is the time for selecting your summer bulbs, buying seeds, both flower and vegetable and of course seed potatoes. So set a date and take a drive out to Penrallt Garden Centre. You will not be disappointed.
