Do you buy meat locally and by that I mean at the local butchers?

We are really fortunate here in the Cardigan and Teifi Valley area to have two fantastic Award Winning butchers. On the coast in Aberaeron we have Owain's. This is a wonderful shop beautifully displaying all cuts of meat to tempt even the most discerning palette. The majority of the meat is sourced here in Wales and all the staff are knowledgeable and only to happy to help and advise. Do pop in and see what they have on offer. I do know my husband just loves their hot meat counter - they do the most marvellous meat filled bap to takeaway. Click here to find out more about Owain's

Jones Brothers in Lampeter or as most say "Jones the Butcher" is the other butcher featured on thebestof. This is a family run business who farm their own meat - so they really do know where it has come from. They particularly specialise in Hill Lamb and Welsh Black Beef and have recently started farming pigs so organic pork is now on the menu. The very best news is they have just won organic status. This does not mean they are going to charging higher prices - not at all -

as Helen says "We can bring this fabulous meat to our customers at a very competitive price because we can cut out the middle man".

They also have Ceredigion Spring Lamb available until August, ( I have say this is really fabulous - I bought a shoulder of Lamb recently and cooked it as per a Jamie Oliver recipe with Rosemary & Garlic and it was extremely yummy. They also make their own Award winning sausages, burgers, kebabs and steaks for those summer bar-be-ques. Go and visit them in Lampeter or find out more about this successful local butcher by clicking here
