Remembrance Sunday has passed, Fair Night in Cardigan has been and gone and the dark nights are coming in far too quickly. If, like many, you’ve already started your Christmas shopping, well done! You’re more organised than me! If not, I don’t blame you. Let’s not wish the rest of the year away.
Speaking of… THAT time of year, remember that Prior Preparation Prevents Particularly Poor Performance! The famers markets at Newcastle Emlyn, Llandysul and Llangrannog are still up and running and there’s nothing to stop you from buying and part-prepping some (or all) of your vegetable dishes before popping in the freezer so that when it comes to feeding the 5000, at least half the work is done for you… just a thought J We’re ALL supposed to be able to get some enjoyment out of Christmas and if you can reduce the amount of time you’re slaving over a hot stove when everyone else is cracking nuts and sipping sherry, well, even better! No panic-buying sprouts for you! The local markets are listed here – have a look. https://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/cardigan-and-teifi-valley/events/markets
On Friday the 13th, local artist Karen Pearce invites you to join her at the preview of her new exhibition ‘Spirit In The Rock/Ysbryd Yn Y Graig’ which will run at St Dogmaels Coach House until January 2016. This beautiful, vibrant collection celebrates our natural surroundings and you’re welcome to meet the artist for wine and canapes. Saturday 14th November sees Aberporth Village Hall turn back the clock to the days of glamour and the kind of dancing that’s a joy to watch by hosting the Phoenix Band and professional dancers Phillip and Gaynor Evans as they recreate The Golden Age Of Hollywood. You’re invited to bring your own drinks and nibbles and you can read more about it and where to get tickets here https://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/cardigan-and-teifi-valley/events/feature/the-golden-age-of-hollywood
Now that the carboot sales have mainly dried up, what will you do with your Sunday? Well, I can think of many worse things to do than sauntering down to the Small World Theatre in Cardigan for another of their wonderful FLeat! events on the 15th. If you’ve never been, it’s perfect Sunday fodder, especially now that winter is setting in – enjoy the market atmosphere without being out in the cold and take advantage of the local cooks who have prepared goodies for you to lunch on or take away. Throw in the probability of picking up a few handmade Christmas presents too and that’s and relaxing, productive trip out sorted…. If your Wednesdays feel a bit flat, there are groups and classes that are waiting for you to join them. Which side of the brain do you feel like using? If it’s the creative, Rhydlewis Art Club meets every Wednesday at the village hall between 10.30 and 3pm and welcomes everyone of any ability – you don’t even have to bring your own equipment. Find out more here https://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/cardigan-and-teifi-valley/events/feature/rhydlewis-art-club but if the problem-solving side of your grey matter seeks a work-out, what about the Bridge-Club that meets in the Radley Room at Cardigan Guildhall on a Wednesday evening? New members are always welcome. Read all about it here https://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/cardigan-and-teifi-valley/events/feature/bridge-club-1411983896-7285
