GambiCats started its work in The Gambia, West Africa in 1998. There is a branch in Aberporth, Ceredigion, where everyone is free send in their donations.
During a holiday we were very aware of the poor condition of many of the stray cats and dogs around the hotels and on the beaches. With the help of two hotel managers a 2 week neutering clinic was organised in May 1998 with a team of vets from the UK.
This was so successful that several other hotels wanted us to help with their cats & dogs and we decided to set up GambiCats and register it as a charity in the UK.
