There has been a lifeboat station in the Cardigan locality since 1849, providing assistance and saving lives along this treacherous stretch of coastline.
The lifeboat stations is open to visitors on the following times:
Wednesday from 18:00 - 20:00
Sunday from 10:00 - 12:00
The station may also be opened at other times by prior arrangement.
At these times the boats are launched on exercise, this is certainly a sight not to be missed. A member of the crew will be able to show you around the station and to answer any questions you may have.
The current lifeboat station is situated prominently on the sandy beach at Poppit. It was constructed in 1998 in order to accommodate the two inshore lifeboats.
