Tullie House lost its bid for the Crosby Garrett Helmet at Christie's this week.
The helmet was sold to an anonymous buyer for £2m. The helmet is set to stay in the UK so there may be a chance if the buyer comes forward for Tullie House to make a case for displaying it at the museum.
It is such a shame as the spiritedness of the general public saw £50,000 raised which was matched £1 for £1 by an anonymous benefactor.
