Creepy Tours of Carmarthen have won the title ‘Visitor Experience of the Year’ in the local tourism awards – and deservedly so.
Take a Spooky Town Tour one evening and you can discover dark secrets from bygone days - and find out where the ghosts walk. On the way you can take part in magical experiments involving ghosts, murder weapons, antique photographs and a witch trial.
These walks are a unique introduction to the darker side of local life that are given a magical twist by the tour guide. Not for nothing was Carmarthen considered to be the ‘Wild West’ of Wales.
From the ancient Romans through to modern times the darker side of life has left its marks on the town. It’s all explored in this illustrated ramble around the oldest and spookiest parts of the town.
Starting on the steps of the town’s Guildhall, during this ninety minute walk around the centre of Carmarthen you will hear unsettling stories from the past and visit the very place where a medieval bishop was burnt to death, stand where crowds watched public executions and sample life in the cells where murderers were held before the death sentence was passed.
The Spooky Town Tour includes a visit to the building which housed the town's original Victorian Police Station, set within the walls of the ancient Castle. The setting for dozens of overnight ‘ghost hunts’ , the building has its own unique night-time atmosphere which you can share.
Adult tickets are £7.50 each, children and OAPs are £5 and a family ticket is available for two adults and up to three children for £23.
All walks start at Carmarthen Guildhall. Bookings for Private Tours are always available.
The next available tours are on Wednesday, July 15th and Thursday 16th; July 22nd and 29th. And every Wednesday evening through August. They can sell out, so please book early. Info is on the website.
