Llangennech swooped back to the summit of Division One West with a convincing 39 – 16 home success over Whitland in the top of the table clash at the Park Rugby Ground.
This was a top of the table clash between two teams on top form. Llangennech set their stall from the kick off and you sensed that there was going to be only one winner, The home team prop Craig Kelly scored the first try a wonderful run from wide out. Wing Rhys Davies then scored a good try supplemented by two penalties from full back Gareth Walters. Whitland replied with three excellent penalty kicks by full back Scott Newton to make the half time score 16 – 9 to Llan. Early in the second half Whitland replied with a centre Lee Granville try converted by Scott Newton to make the score 16 – 16. Llan then upped a gear and completely dominated proceedings and wing Micky Davies scored two tries with Aled Roberts adding one penalty and one conversion to conclude a very satisfying win.
