With his recent hit single, Bounce, going straight in at number 2 in the weekly charts and and notching up an impressive 7.7 million views on Youtube, it is unsurprising that Calvin Harris has been asked to play at this year’s V festival.
The top electropop artist has been brought in as a late replacement for the V Festival in Chelmsford after Duran Duran had to pull out from the V Festival line up due to Simon Le Bon’s vocal problems.
Calvin Harris will perform both days of the festival, on August 20th and 21st.
Harris, whose debut album, I Created Disco contained hits such as Acceptable in the Eighties and Merrymaking at my Place, is headlining the Arena stage at Hylands Park on August 21.
He said: “I can’t wait to perform at V Festival, the crowds are always amazing at Chelmsford. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The Scottish DJ has worked with many big names such as Kylie Minogue and produced the song Dance Wiv Me with Dizzee Rascal, who will also be performing at the festival. During his career, Harris has sold millions of albums worldwide.
Duran Duran, the eighties band, have had to pull out after Le Bon damaged his vocal chords whilst performing a show in May. After being told to rest his voice, the band has been forced to cancel the remainder of their summer shows.
Other acts on the bill for this year’s V festival include pop diva, Rihanna and British rapper Plan B.
